Summary transcript for 13 June 2013 #AWCchat: Website and Blog Stats That Matter

Thanks to everyone who participated in our 57th #AWCChat on Twitter, about which stats really matter in your website and blog analytics.

Here is what we discussed:

1)  What is some basic info you want to know about your website/blog visitors? Hint: you want to know how people found your site (through a link? Keyword search – which words? Social media?)

2)  How do you measure whether you’re getting more visitors (traffic) to your site?

The transcript includes specific sections to pay attention to in your analytics. Don’t miss all of the helpful how-to Resource links we tweeted, either.

Chat topics, dates and times for June 2013

We’re excited to be in our 2nd year of #AWCchat:  a one-hour, weekly online chat on Twitter where we discuss a variety of communications-related topics.

Nope, you do not have to be an AWC (Association for Women in Communications) member or a woman to participate.

The chat is held weekly, for one hour, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CST (Central Standard Time) on Thursdays. There will usually be a transcript on our Chirpstory channel if you can’t make it.

Here is a helpful post on how to participate in a Twitter chat, by Lisa Barone. Here’s the plan:

Schedule/Topics June 2013

    • Thursday, June 6 – no chat
    • Thursday, June 13 – Website analytics, stats and data: which ones really matter? (rescheduled from May)
    • Thursday, June 20 – How to get started as a professional speaker
    • Thursday, June 27 – Toolbox Extravaganza! Everyone bring 1 – 3 of your favorite professional communicator timesavers, apps, tips or resources to the chat

Please follow @AWCchat on Twitter, and tweet us any other topic ideas you have. We look forward to seeing you at one or all of the chat sessions.

Thanks very much for your support of the AWC – where we “get” communications integration thanks to our diverse and talented membership!

Summary transcript for 16 Feb 2012 #AWCchat: social media ROI

Thanks to everyone who participated in our eleventh #AWCChat on Twitter, on the topic of social media ROI (Return on Investment.)

There were four questions for discussion during this chat:

1)   To measure ROI, you must know what you want to achieve with your investment (of time or money or both.) Name some goals that social media can achieve.

2)   Let’s say you decide that your goal with social media is “brand awareness.” What can you measure to see if it’s working?

3)   Let’s say you decide on “community-building” as your social media investment goal. How do you measure success in that?

4)   Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee) famously ranted about ROI – “What’s the ROI of your mother?!”  Is social media immeasurable but still worth it?

Additional resource links from the chat included lots of measurement information and an ebook…. and thanks, Katie D. Paine, measurement expert, for dropping into the chat!

The next #AWCChat is scheduled for 23 February 2012, on the topic of organizing your office space/work space.

**  Chat schedule and topics for March 2012 coming soon!
